Xinru Gong

 born in 1973 in Jiangxi, China, is a contemporary Chinese artist. He graduated from the Stage Design Department at Shanghai Theatre Academy and currently lives and works in Shanghai. His artistic practice focuses on the transformation of “urban portraits” and “traffic symbols”, exploring social themes such as urbanization, rules and individual freedom, and the relationship between life and environment. Gong frequently works with industrial materials such as acrylic (Plexiglas), combining the colors and forms of Pop Art to create works with strong visual impact and symbolic meaning, and is regarded by critics as one of the representatives of “Neo-Pop” art. Active on the international art stage, he has held solo exhibitions in China, Germany, Singapore, and Japan, participated in major group shows, and his works are included in numerous museum collections and institutional holdings.
