The Baxianyin Mosque, located in Zhaotong City, Yunnan Province, was originally built during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Having endured through the Ming, Qing, Republican era, and into the People’s Republic of China, it embodies a rich historical and cultural legacy, as well as a distinctive architectural style.
Today, the mosque has become a gathering place for daily leisure among elderly residents and children from nearby villages. Moved by the lively presence of the children and the simplicity of the ancient architecture, I created the work Baxianyin Mosque.
